Hospital District will be Accountable to Calhoun County

Hospital districts, by state law, have an independent volunteer board of directors composed of local residents. This ensures the entity remains accountable to the local community that created the district.

Once approved by voters, a hospital district’s initial and temporary board is appointed by the County Commissioners. These individuals serve without compensation, have fiduciary responsibility for the district, and provide oversight of and strategic direction for the district.

In the petition to create the Calhoun County Hospital District, the County Commissioners stated that it would appoint seven members to serve as initial temporary directors. Six will be from each of the six Calhoun County Independent School District places, and one will be at-large.

Initial Temporary Directors

  • Place #1, two-year term: Michael Chavana
  • Place #2, one-year term: Kelly Staloch
  • Place #3, two-year term: Jessie Rodriguez, III
  • Place #4, one-year term: Stephen Mutchler
  • Place #5, two-year term: Sheilia Dierschke
  • Place #6, one-year term: Sherry Philips
  • At-large, two-year term: Dallas Franklin

After their initial term, board members must be elected by Calhoun County voters to serve an additional term. Any Calhoun County resident can run for a seat on the hospital district board.

Hospital District board meetings are open to the public.
